Women Without Roofs (WWR) is the charity I set up and run in Nepal that helps vulnerable and abandoned women there by paying for rent and medical bills. We also run a small women’s home and pay for children’s education.
Given that theological reflection occurs as we engage with the world, then this has certainly been the case with WWR. As we have tried to help the women, we have had to consider what we are trying to achieve, this has led us to formulate a biblical vision for our work. We have expressed this by stating that these vulnerable, damaged and abused women should experience from us all the fruit of the spirit and in turn show those to the people around them. Our vision for them is not limited to seeing them become productive members of society, contributing to the local economy, as other secular NGOs might envision…

Have you ever wanted to set up your own business and make a difference? Four of our women have been learning to make felt items and are in need of a means to sell them. Is anyone reading this able to help, perhaps you’d like to have your own small business and help needy women at the same time? Could you import these items to the UK or USA and sell them at craft fairs? Let us know if you are able to help, it would make a huge difference to the lives of these women.
Four of the ladies we support are spending the month learning how to make felt products to sell.
This is Mahima Griha, Glory House, and our women moved in last week.
Please click on the Mahima Griha tab above to find out more about it.
Setting up Mahima Griha for the women has incurred a lot of one-off costs. WWR has been able to provide for all the essential items, such as beds and bedding, however we are still in need of funds to cover the following:
1 x Pressure Cooker £23.00
1 x Water Pot £4.60
1 x Bucket £4.60
1 x Deep Frying Pan £7.00
2 x Washing Bowls for Clothes £11.50
1 x Sauce Pan £6.50
1 x Tea Strainer £0.80
Curtains (approx) £65.00
Rugs (approx) £65.00
6 x Plastic Chairs £24.00
1 x Filing Cabinet £38.00
1 x Desk and 2 x Chairs £153.00
If you would like to purchase any of these for the home, please donate here. Send us an email too, to let us know what you would like us to spend your money on: email@example.com
We are also in need of regular donations to help us meet the rental payments for Mahima Griha, if you can help with a regular donation then please e-mail us for a standing order form: firstname.lastname@example.org
Above all, we ask that you pray for all the women at Mahima Griha, that they would grow together in love and that they would experience complete healing for all the trauma they have experienced in their pasts.
THANK YOU FROM ALL OF US AT WWR
Three women have been trained by one of their own cohort to make shawls. An empowering experience for them all.
One of the women that Women Without Roofs supports in Nepal, called Durga, makes beautiful shawls. She started this work because the women we support have formed a cooperative and make loans to each other. Her success has prompted three other women to seek to be trained by her and so this week she spent three days of her precious time patiently teaching them how to make shawls. With just one spinning wheel between them it took time and perseverance.
It is fantastic to see Durga flourish through teaching them, and for the other women they now have a new skill to help them become independent. Everyone at WWR is delighted.
Congratulations to WWR’s class of 2017 on their excellent exam results
Five children of women that Women Without Roofs -Nepal supports have just passed their School Leaving Certificate exams with flying colours!
These are some the children WWR supports by paying school fees, not the particular children that have just passed their exams!
