We are pleased to be able to take care of a lady with HIV at our Grace Women’s Home – her former husband transmitted the disease to her. She moved in last week and we provided all the ladies at the home training and education about HIV/Aids and how best to take care of her. Here they are discussing the issues.

Prayer trip to Nepal, organised by Tearfund

Tearfund is organising a prayer trip to Nepal at the start of April that includes a visit to Kathmandu. At the moment there are not enough people signed up for the trip to make it viable. So, if you have ever thought about going to Nepal, and would like to do so in the company of praying Christians, this is your chance!

Hello and Goodbye

Terry and Renee, one of our trustees, have arrived safely in Nepal and in time for a farewell service for Lisa, one of our Nepali staff who is coming to England to work.

An emotional, yet happy time, was had by all.

Our goats have had babies!

Yesterday one of our goats at Grace Women’s Home gave birth to two baby kids. A perfect start to the new year and a cause of great excitement for the women and children living at the home.

Christmas Celebration

On Wednesday 12th October we were privileged to present at Cross Pollinate, a Dragons Den style event for charities. It was a fantatstic evening and we had to ‘pitch’ WWR for just six minutes, then face six more minutes of questions.

Thankfully those in the room were feeling generous and we secured enough funds to allow us to set up a training centre at our Grace Women’s Home and to establish more sustainable businesses for our women. One man even wanted to donate funds for a buffalo, provided he could name it!

This is the training room at the home that we will utilise; we will employ a manager and women living at the home will be employed to cater for training courses – as well as attend them! We hope to run courses in numeracy, literacy, crafts and skills, sewing, nutrition and first aid together with basic medical know how.
